Denmark have a great generation of talent coming through and if they can manage to make it all work together then their recent poor qualification record for tournaments should come to an end.

Two of the country’s most important players are Tottenham star Christian Eriksen, and Andreas Christensen, owned by Chelsea but currently on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach. Both have progressed for their country over the past year and that’s leading to added confidence.

Previously there had been widespread fretting in Denmark that Eriksen didn’t reproduce his Tottenham form for his country, but now at 25 years of age the Spurs ace is taking on the responsibility better.

Andreas Christensen is expected back at Chelsea in the summer when his loan ends, and Danish newspaper BT say they’ll be waiting with ‘open arms’ for the player, such is his level already.

Not turning 21 years of age until next month, the central defender has gained valuable experience whilst on loan from Chelsea, amassing more than 50 Bundesliga appearances. Gladbach would like to keep him, but at the very least it’s expected Antonio Conte will want to see what Christensen can do during pre-season.

BT reckon the two could be Denmark’s most important players, and they could be London rivals at Tottenham and Chelsea next season.
