On Friday, Bild reported that Chelsea carried out Christopher Nkunku’s medical tests in Frankfurt towards the end of August.

These tests were conducted with a view for a potential move next summer, when the RB Leipzig star’s €60m release clause will come into effect.

Later that day, RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins explained Chelsea have reached an agreement in principle with the forward for a move after this season. He also stated the 24-year-old underwent medical tests, but not in Frankfurt.

After Bild’s report surfaced, Sport1 got in touch with Nkunku’s agent, Pini Zahavi, for an update. The representative didn’t want to comment but did not deny the report either.

The France international remains keen to take the next step in his career and play for an ‘absolute top club’. Chelsea fit the bill and they would be encouraged to know the Premier League attracts the attacker.

Meanwhile, Sky Deutschland state the player had a medical check, but it has got nothing to do with Chelsea or another club. They explain it was done for ‘private and insurance reasons’, which is mandatory in the industry.

Bild reported Chelsea sent their official to Frankfurt where Nkunku’s was undergoing tests. This claim has been dismissed by Sky, who explain that no one from the west London club was present.

Nkunku is of interest to several European clubs, including the Blues, but a ‘preliminary contract does not yet exist’, with Chelsea or another club.

Florian Plettenberg covered the report for Sky. He took to Twitter to explain that ‘Chelsea want him in 2023’, but a decision on Nkunku’s future has not been made yet.
