AC Milan defender Simon Kjaer has backed Chelsea’s Andreas Christensen to become one of the best defenders in the world if he learns to shout more.

Christensen has always been highly regarded at Chelsea since his arrival from Brondby’s U17 side in 2012 but has struggled to establish himself under a series of managers at Stamford Bridge.

That’s changed somewhat under Thomas Tuchel, who has made him one of the regulars in the back three system he employs.

The most appearances Christensen has made under any Chelsea boss is 40 when Antonio Conte was in charge, and he is currently eight shy of that under Thomas Tuchel.

The regular appearances have seen the Danish centre back start to show his best form, with a series of impressive performances for the Premier League leaders this season.

He’s been earning plenty of rave reviews for his displays, and his international teammate is convinced he can get even better.

“I think he has all the prerequisites to become the world’s best defensive player,” he told BOLD.

“He reads the game completely uniquely. He is fantastic on the ball, fast and athletic.

“He has to shout a little louder from time to time, but it has also gotten better. I think AC is a great defender.

“He has developed both on and off the field in the time he has been here. I still want more AC; I want more personality.

“It’s gotten better, but it’s one of those places where I want to keep pushing him a little bit.

“I want to demand more from him both on and off the field. It has got better, and in my world, he controls a little bit himself how far he wants to take it.”
