Enzo Fernandez is literally on his way to Chelsea, the Portuguese media reports.

Outlet Record now features a story saying the former Benfica midfielder arrived at the Lisbon airport at 1PM (local time) ahead of his flight to London.

It’s pointed out that Fernandez had already gone through medicals in Lisbon on Tuesday, and that means there are few formalities before he can actually make his debut for Chelsea.

The Blues announced earlier today the signing of the Argentina international, who won the World Cup in Qatar last year.

As mentioned in Record’s story, Chelsea only accepted Benfica’s demands in the final hours of the transfer window, and are paying the Eagles €121m for the transfer.

Enzo Fernandez had joined the Lisbon side last summer on a €10m deal from River Plate. It took few months for him to stand out in the Portuguese league, but what really put his market value up were his performances in the World Cup.

According to Record’s printed edition today, Chelsea were fine in letting him stay at Benfica on loan until the end of the season, but the player wanted to complete the move right away.
