Chelsea and Real Betis are reportedly ready to break Charly Musonda’s loan at the Spanish side. According to ABC de Sevilla and Alfinaldelapalmera.com, both clubs have already reached a verbal agreement and only the official documents are lacking for the announcement to be made.

The Spanish newspaper claims that the talks happened yesterday, with Betis initially claiming that Musonda was in London to recover from his injury at Chelsea’s training facilities. Whilst that may have been true at one point, talks to seal a return to Chelsea have been going on at the same time.

Charly Musonda had a very good first spell at Betis last season, and that’s why there was a big race for his loan during the last summer. He couldn’t repeat the same good performances this season, and after the struggles with two different managers, both sides considered it was time for him to go.

It’s still unknown if Antonio Conte will bring the midfielder in as part of Chelsea’s squad or if he’ll loan him out again. The Italian manager has a very settled group of players and may wish to keep it that, especially with Musonda not afraid of pushing when he wants first team football.

Betis will have paid Chelsea a loan fee for the season and will of course be looking to get that back.
