In news that will shock few Chelsea fans, it appears this will be the final season of Michy Batshuayi at Stamford Bridge.
Hardly used this season, the Belgian needs to find himself a new club to make sure his career doesn’t stagnate more than it has already, but he doesn’t want to do so just anywhere.
According to Foot Mercato in France, who push the story that he ‘will leave this summer’, the player will not be returning to Belgium and nor will he be moving to West Ham.
The website state Batshuayi ‘already has a few contacts’, but ‘the player doesn’t want to get it wrong’ and is looking for stability above all.
They expect the next few weeks to be rather ‘agitated’ for the 26-year-old, who they believe still has a decent standing in the transfer market, suggesting he could end up somewhere rather decent.
We’ll have to wait and see, but it’s a move that makes sense for all parties going forward, as Frank Lampard made it rather clear he wasn’t ready to count on him.
And yet, despite all this, Foot Mercato are keen to point out the Belgian’s relationship with the Blues ‘hasn’t turned cold’.
Since joining Chelsea in 2016 from Marseille for £35m, Batshuayi has only made 77 appearances for the club, scoring 25 goals and assisting another six.
