Even though Antonio Conte’s contract with Chelsea is supposed to run until 2019, his name continues to get mentions in the Italian press as if he wasn’t comitted to any club.

Earlier this month, Roberto Fabbricini, general secretary of the Italian National Olympic Committee and extraordinary commissioner of the Italian Football Federation, was interviewed by the local media and revealed four managers who could be taking charge of the National Team. They were Antonio Conte, Carlo Ancelotti, Roberto Mancini and Claudio Ranieri.

The official made it clear that the talks hadn’t started and there was no one in pole position, but these were some guys who could become the boss soon.

Now the Chelsea manager is back in the headlines, this time with a quote from Alessandro Costacurta, sub-commissioner of the Italian FA. Speaking to Sports Media Set, he confirmed that Conte, Di Baggio and Mancini are the main contenders. “These names won’t be out, in June it will be decided”.

“I have never expressed a preference about Conte. I only said that having worked with the national team, he has the right parameters: he did well, moreover since there is currently very great talent, it’s still needed a very good manager. And the names are those of good managers”.

Sport Media Set still claims that Conte has an advantage over the others, even though the Chelsea boss would have to find a financial agreement with the national team.

As the decision will be left for the summer, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Conte starts the next season training a Blue squad that is not from London.
