Manchester City and Chelsea are both involved in an ‘international auction’ for Brescia midfielder Sandro Tonali.

Nineteen-year-old Tonali is one of the highest-rated players in Europe, with many predicting big things from the defensive midfielder.

He has earned attention from the big clubs around the continent, and it seems Manchester City and Chelsea have now joined the queue.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Pep Guardiola ‘knows Brescia and the player well’, and as a result, the club are actively involved in the battle for his signature.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are eyeing up Tonali as a potential replacement for Jorginho, who has been linked with a move to Juventus, and have ‘made themselves felt’.

The website reports that something of an international auction is evolving around the young midfielder, with clubs from the Premier League, La Liga, Ligue 1 and Serie A all interested in his signature.

Sources have told them that the ‘pressure has been intensifying’ in recent weeks, with a ‘millionaire list’ of clubs all eyeing up a move.

Manchester City are among them but will face competition from Real Madrid, Barcelona. Paris Saint Germain, Inter Milan and Juventus. Brescia have had ‘contacts’ with numerous clubs, suggesting the race is already well underway.
