Nacional youngster Renzo Orihuela had a medical with Manchester City on Thursday ahead of a move to the club.

That’s according to El Observador, who say the 18-year-old centre back is now one step closer to completing his move to the Etihad.

Back in January, we covered reports that Manchester City were keen on Orihuela, having watched him for the last year, and negotiations with his club Nacional were well underway.

That was followed up by a report from El Pais that stated the City group were close to completing a deal, which would include bonuses if he ever ended up at Manchester City.

El Observador say that he is now one step closer to making the move after missing training in Los Céspedes on Wednesday afternoon to undergo his medical with City.

According to the newspaper, the youngster will sign with Manchester City but will be loaned back to Nacional to continue playing there.

City, who have been watching the defender for a year, have paid $1.5m to own 80% of Orihuela, with them set to earn a ‘big bonus’ of $1m if he goes to Girona, and a ‘very big bonus’ $5m if he ends up at City at any point.
