Chelsea and Liverpool will face increased pressure from Real Madrid for the signing of Jude Bellingham next summer, with the Spanish giants having removed ‘a stumbling block’ for the transfer.

That’s according to AS, who cover the situation today and how Madrid are clearing the road for a clear run at the Borussia Dortmund star.

They explain that the ‘obstacle course’ for Bellingham now has one less block in it as Madrid have opened up space in their squad to complete the deal.

As Bellingham now counts as a non-EU player, they previously could not fit him into the squad but Eder Militao and Rodrygo have recently earned dual nationality, opening space on the non-EU register, which is limited to three.

It was because of this issue that the club did not sign Raheem Sterling in the summer, with him very much ‘within range’ before his move to Chelsea. It was the same for Gabriel Jesus, another player they looked at.

That will not happen with Bellingham, though, leaving Madrid free to compete with Chelsea and Liverpool for his signature.

Both clubs are ‘very interested’ in the midfielder and Madrid know they are likely to be serious ‘competitors’ for Bellingham’s signature.

Madrid, feel they have an advantage as they have a good relationship with Borussia Dortmund’s management and believe they can come to some sort of agreement on a €100m deal.

They’ve also been in contact with Bellingham’s agents and been told the midfielder is debating between a move to the Spanish capital or the Premier League, where Chelsea and Liverpool are both keen and others are likely to join them.

If they do move, though, they now face a serious challenge from Madrid, who have paved the way to win the major transfer battle of the next summer transfer window.
