Chelsea star Kai Havertz was left with a ‘feeling of exhaustion’ and had to lie in bed for ‘several days’ after contracting Coronavirus earlier this year.

The German midfielder spent a period in isolation at the beginning of November after contracting the virus, missing clashes against Sheffield United and Newcastle in the Premier League and Stade Rennais in the Champions League.

He has struggled to hit his best form since, managing just one assist in his last four games in all competitions.

This week has seen Chelsea boss Frank Lampard talking to the British press about the player’s struggles, with him backing the player to bounce back in the near future.

So far details about his illness have been thin on the ground, but BILD provide all the information today.

They report that Havertz ‘had to lie in bed for several days’ after contracting the virus, suffering from a ‘fever, severe headache and sore throat’.

Those were not the only symptoms he suffered from, having also lost his sense of taste and being left ‘extremely limp’ from a feeling of exhaustion that ‘crept out slowly’.

Thus, he spent longer than the mandatory two-week quarantine fighting the illness, instead taking the advice of doctors who recommended a four-week break given the ‘severe’ symptoms that he was struggling with.

He’s now won that fight and is looking to establish himself at Chelsea once again, with Blues fans and Lampard keen to see the best from their big summer signing.
