The Portuguese media today brings more updates on Chelsea’s pursuit for Enzo Fernandez, and the strongest news comes from newspaper Record, who claims the Blues held new talks for the through the night.

The outlet claims that the Stamford Bridge side had a meeting with agent Jorge Mendes, and the talks lasted so long that by the time they had to close Wednesday’s edition of the newspaper, there was still no outcome, despite the expectation for a deal.

According to Record, once Fernandez returned to Lisbon after missing a couple of training sessions, the player told manager Roger Schmidt he has the move to Chelsea as a ‘priority’, because he apparently already has an agreement with the Blues since the last week.

The story claims the midfielder’s situation became a ‘delicate’ subject at Benfica, and with the club willing to sort it out as quick as possible, they accepted to resume negotiations with the Premier League side.

That’s why Eagles president Rui Costa, who understood the sale is the only way out of this issue, sent Jorge Mendes to negotiate with Chelsea in London.

With the meeting going on late at night, Record doesn’t know many details about that, but makes it clear that the current talks have the objective of closing the deal, clearly sooner rather than later.
