Everton have been regularly credited with an interested in Lille’s Gabriel Magalhães.

The Toffees are not the only Premier League side to be chasing the defender, if reports are to be believed.

On April 21st, Le10 Sport explained Chelsea have contacted the Ligue 1 side for the Brazil U20 international.

AS now claims the centre-back is also on Real Madrid’s radar as they are in the market looking for a third choice player in the heart of the defence. It’s because last summer signing Éder Militão has failed to impress so far.

RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano was considered as the main target, but the fee needed to (Leipzig ready to reduce it from €60m to €40m) makes it difficult for the La Liga side to sign the Frenchman.

Real Madrid’s transfer manager Juni Calafat has identified Gabriel as a ‘promising’ and ‘cheaper’ alternative to Upamecano. He meets the Spanish club’s sporting needs, but there are a few challenges to complete his signing.

Zinedine Zidane’s side will have to free up a non-EU space in the squad to sign the South American and in addition to this, they will have to overcome Chelsea.

AS states ‘another drawback’ for Real Madrid is that Frank Lampard’s side have an ‘advantage’ in signing the player as they have been working on landing for some time (since late April). The Lille defender’s current valuation is believed to be around €20m.

The report makes it clear that Gabriel ‘future is not yet written’ and clubs are moving forward with great cautious for a transfer.

There are further claims on the player in France today, and it seems like an agent is getting to work.
