Timo Werner ‘has not ruled out’ a move away from Chelsea this summer as he seeks a starring role elsewhere.

That’s according to Sport1, who say the biggest problem facing the German forward is his current wage packet at Stamford Bridge.

Werner has endured a difficult two years at Chelsea since arriving in a £47.7m deal from RB Leipzig in July 2020.

While his record of 23 goals and 21 assists in 89 games is hardly terrible, he has not proven to be the elite-level striker the Blues were hoping he was after scoring 93 goals and registering 40 assists in 158 games for RB Leipzig.

He’s now facing an uncertain future at the club as they reshape their forward line this summer with the signing of Raheem Sterling from Manchester City.

He will take up the left-wing position that Werner has often been used in by Thomas Tuchel since his arrival.

And Sport 1 say a move is very much possible, stating that Werner ‘has not ruled out a move’ away this summer because he is ‘not satisfied’ with his playing time under Tuchel.

The biggest problem for him is he would have to take a bigger cut in his salary, which is currently an estimated €16m/year.

It is ‘hard to imagine’ any other club would pay him a ‘comparable sum’, making it difficult to secure a transfer.

Of course, there are always solutions to be found, particularly with Werner open to the switch, but it seems, for the time being, a move out away from Chelsea is not on the cards.
