The more days go by, the closer we get to Tiemoué Bakayoko leaving Chelsea and returning to Milan.
At least, that’s what Gazzetta dello Sport seem to think on Monday, claiming that barring any ‘sudden accelerations’, an agreement should be found between the two clubs in ‘the next few days’, potentially ‘mid-week’.
This is because Bakayoko ‘only wants’ Milan, having accepted to lower his wages from €6m/year to €3m/year + bonuses, and ‘the player’s will directs the negotiation on the right tracks’.
Chelsea ideally want a paid loan with an obligation to buy, but the player’s ‘pressing will lead to a paid loan with an option to buy’, which is the same formula the Serie A club used two years ago.
However, the final fee would be lower, with ‘an operation of €30-32m overall’ compared to the €40m that were in place for his Monaco deal last year.
All in all, Gazzetta explain that ‘if there are no unexpected events’, then Stefano Pioli will soon be able to count on Bakayoko to bolster his midfield for next season, which currently only has Franck Kessiè, Ismael Bennacer, Rade Krunić and Lucas Paquetà in its ranks.
