Burnley’s Zeki Amdouni has been on loan at Benfica since last summer and the Eagles have an option to make his stay permanent for €18m.

On April 26th, A Bola stated Bruno Lage’s side have no plans to activate the €18m buyout option and that Burnley have no plans to lower the price.

Monday’s edition of Record partly backs up A Bola’s earlier claim and then provides their own take on this case.

Lage has utilised him across several attacking positions, but mainly as a substitute. The Burnley man has played less than 1,400 minutes from 43 games, managing nine goals and three assists in the process.

The Lisbon club have already decided not to pay €18m to Burnley, but that doesn’t mean they don’t want to retain him.

Record’s title says the Primeira Liga club ‘intend to negotiate the option’ with Burnley. Within the report, it’s explained Benfica will only retain Amdouni if the Clarets were to lower the price.

Earlier claims have stated Scott Parker’s side are refusing to drop the price.

In short, Burnley, who secured promotion to the Premier League, need to soften their stance for Benfica to buy the Switzerland international.
