Some days ago, Chelsea emerged as a candidate to land Napoli midfielder Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa.
The indication from the Italian press was that the Cameroon international has already asked to leave the Italian giants, even though he has signed a new deal at the club.
More has now emerged about Zambo Anguissa’s future and Il Mattino also state that Chelsea are an interested candidate in the 29-year-old.
They believe that the ex-Fulham player would see a return to the Premier League as a case of ‘personal redemption’. He feels that he still has some things to achieve in England, where he hadn’t quite made an impact during his time at Craven Cottage.
The Naples-based outlet claim that more than one round of talks have been held by Chelsea, who have already made their move for the Cameroonian.
In the past, there have been suggestions that Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna has flown to London to hold talks with the Blues. He could have also held talks with both Manchester United and Manchester City.
Chelsea do seem to be a more prominent candidate in this case and it remains to be seen how the situation evolves.
