With Marcus Thuram out of contract at the end of the season, there has been a lot of talk about him potentially leaving Borussia Mönchengladbach in January.

That would require a fee, and while a number of clubs were lurking, few were prepared to do so, until Chelsea came along.

The Blues are currently reeling from a home loss to Manchester City on Thursday night, and it seems this has made Todd Boehly decide to spend more money on his squad after signing Benoît Badiashile on Thursday.

Thuram is up next, according to Foot Mercato in France, who write that Chelsea are ‘charging’ to sign him in January.

The Stamford Bridge side are ‘very hot’ on the player’s trail and ‘could spring into action’ in the coming weeks, with the American owner ready to ‘splurge’ on the transfer market to get his team back into gear.

Now, we have to wait and see if Thuram ‘will be seduced’ by Chelsea’s project or whether the idea of finishing the season with Gladbach before going elsewhere is what he feels is better.

Either way, Foot Mercato believe ‘things will move’ around the player this month.
