In the past few weeks, Chelsea have been named as one of the clubs in the race for Flamengo youngster Matheus França.

Even though it’s Crystal Palace who are said to be engaged in more serious talks for the player, many stories said the Blues were interested as well.

It turns out that journalist Venê Casagrande now comes up on Twitter to give more details of this story.

The reporter claims that Chelsea’s board ‘denies any interest’ or bid that has been claimed lately.

Casagrande adds that by the start of the month, the Blues used intermediaries to speak to Flamengo about the price for the transfer, but didn’t go further than that.

It’s made clear that ‘at this moment time’, there are no ongoing talks between Chelsea and Flamengo for França.

According to the recent reports from Brazil, the Rio de Janeiro club demand €25m to let the attacker go.

It’s been said that even if Chelsea sign the player, their intention would be to loan him out to Stasbourg.

That’s an advantage for Crystal Palace, who’d offer him the chance of playing in the Premier League right away.
