Club Brugge coach Nicky Hayen will be at Liverpool in two years time replacing Arne Slot in the manager’s position.
That’s according to journalist Jan Mulder, who has backed Hayen for a big future in the game, and seemingly predicted a difficult two years for Slot at Liverpool in the process.
The Dutch coach is expected to replace Jurgen Klopp in the summer, with Liverpool currently pushing to finalise a deal after moving for him last week.
That will be the next big step in his career after impressing with Feyenoord, where he’s won the Eredivisie title and the Dutch cup.
Hayen finds himself at the other end of the scale after taking charge of Club Brugge as caretaker manager last month following Ronny Deila’s departure.
He’s made a very positive impression so far, winning seven and drawing one of his eight games in charge to date and leading the Belgian side into the semi-finals of the Europa Conference League.
There are calls for him to be made their permanent boss moving forwards and it seems Mulder agrees with that idea, backing Hayen to keep on impressing and then end up in Liverpool in two years.
“Halfway through March, the situation in which the proud Club Brugge found itself was so dire that the usual scenario was adopted in gloomy times: head coach Deila was dismissed, Nicky Hayen from Club NXT was appointed as interim,” he said.
“Nicky Hayen will be festively appointed manager of Club Brugge on the day of the Belgian championship and will put in a series of games in the Champions League next year, attracting the attention of Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern and Manchester.
“Nasser Al-Khelaifi of Paris Saint-Germain also joins the fight for his signature at the last minute. Personally, I think that the great Nicky Hayen will replace Arne Slot as manager of Liverpool within two years.”
