Widely considered to be one of the more exciting defensive prospects in Ligue 1, Boubacar Kamara showed he could also be a decisive goalscorer on Tuesday night, netting the only goal in Marseille’s 1-0 win over Bordeaux.

Once courted by Manchester City over FaceTime, the young centre-back has played regularly under Rudi Garcia this season, and now clubs like Chelsea and Arsenal are reportedly looking at him for next season.

The story comes from Calciomercato in Italy, who report on it due to Milan also being involved, likely told about the interest from the Blues, the Gunners and Borussia Dortmund by the same source.

Whether Kamara is the kind of player Arsenal need these days can be questioned, as Unai Emery could do more with experience than youth to bolster his backline, but, then again, the North London club do love a French talent.

As for Maurizio Sarri, he made it clear last summer he would have liked an extra centre-back, targeting Juventus’ Daniele Rugani, preferring to have a player he can mould alongside the likes of David Luiz and Antonio Rüdiger then lumping on a veteran.

They already have Andreas Christensen at Stamford Bridge, but it seems the Denmark international hasn’t impressed his Italian manager enough this season to warrant a regular place in the team.

It’s worth noting these stories about Kamara tend to come and go quite often, so we’ll have to see if anything sticks this time around.
