Although the Italian media was pretty certain that Chelsea would try to sign Daniele Rugani from Juventus this summer, it seems that the player is staying in Turin with no big threat from the Blues.

Newspaper Corriere Dello Sport today brings a story about several contract renewals that the Old Lady should do after the start of the season.

They claim Rugani should be one of them. Now that Mattia Caldara has completed his move to Milan, Juventus have ‘blocked’ Rugani and won’t let him go anywhere.

The story even mentions that the Italian side were expecting a bid from Chelsea, but the €55m offer was never made official.

As the yearly salary of €4.5m that Rugani would have received at Chelsea is way better than the €2m he makes at Juventus, the Old Lady should soon open negotiations to reward his stay at the club.

His pay raise will depend on his performances in the first months of the season.
