Celtic could be set for a change between the sticks, should claims from France on Saturday be correct.

Stade Rennais goalkeeper Benoit Costil sees his contract with the club running until the end of June this year. French newspaper L’Equipe explain that Brendan Rodgers has been sending spies to watch the player in action this season, and that’s left Celtic ‘convinced’ they want to sign him.

With Costil being available at the end of his contract for nothing Celtic just need to make an offer to the player, with no transfer fee payable. Costil is at the stage where he can now talk to other clubs and L’Equipe believe Celtic will make an offer ‘in the coming weeks’.

Celtic is seen as an attractive proposition for Costil, with L’Equipe pointing out there’s yearly Champions League football.

Craig Gordon is Rodgers’ current first choice, but 29 year old Costil would surely be coming in as Celtic’s number one.
