Turkish newspaper Haberturk report Trabzonspor striker Caleb Ekuban is close to completing a transfer to Celtic as Neil Lennon looks to bolster his attacking options.

Haberturk claim Celtic have raised their bid for Ekuban, and it’s explained they’ve offered €8m plus bonuses for the 26 year old.

Trabzonspor have accepted the Scottish Premiership champions’s offer and despite the club’s new manager Eddie Newton wanting him to stay, Ekuban will fly to Scotland in the coming days to undergo a medical ahead of his move to Celtic Park..

Trabzonspor initially loaned Ekuban from Leeds United at the start of 2018/19 season, and following some impressive performances the Turkish side went on to sign him permanently for €1m.

Last season, Ekuban suffered a couple of injuries but he was still one of the most important players for the Turkish cup winners. The forward made 34 appearances for Trabzonspor, scoring 10 goals and providing 11 assists.

Ekuban’s contract with the Super Lig club will expire at the end of June 2022.
