Manchester United should recall Bastian Schweinsteiger into first team reckoning, according to his former national manager Joachim Low.

Initially ostracised from Jose Mourinho’s squad, Schweinsteiger has been invited to again train with the first team, and Low feels it should be more than that.

Not only does the Germany boss, and World Cup winner, think that it would provide a boost for the player, he also thinks Manchester United’s team would benefit.

Low believes there’s at least a glimmer of Manchester United hope for Schweinsteiger and is quoted by Bild as saying: “Sometimes there is a sudden change in football.”

Mourinho hasn’t managed to settle on his Manchester United midfield plan, and if it wasn’t for all the water that has gone under the bridge, it may be an idea to rotate between Michael Carrick and Schweinsteiger to help provide some experience.

Low is fully backing his former captain and said: “I also believe that he can help the team. It would be great for Basti, I would wish it happens for him.”

There may need to be a plague on midfielders at Manchester United for Schweinsteiger to get a chance, but stranger things have happened.
