‘Call him Mister €50m’.

That’s how Gazzetta dello Sport open their article about Italy’s latest hero, Domenico Berardi, who was key to getting his team on the right track these Euros, as his whipped cross struck Merih Demiral in the chest and led to an own goal.

His performance, and those he had for Sassuolo, have brought in a lot of interest from the Premier League, where Manchester United and Arsenal are reportedly keen.

The former of those two isn’t exactly surprising, since the Red Devils have long been searching for a right-winger, although their attempts to sign Jadon Sancho would suggest the Borussia Dortmund star is the first man on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s list.

That being said, every transfer wishlist has plan Bs and Cs, meaning Berardi could be among the alternatives if the Bundesliga team prove to be as stubborn as last year.

As for Arsenal, their need for a right winger isn’t as strong as their Premier League rivals, but a departure from Willian this year following a disappointing first season at the Emirates could leave a gap open for Berardi.

Still, it seems a bit off for the Gunners to be interested in a €50m winger when they already have a few options in that position.

We’ll have to wait and see about all this, but Gazzetta do report that both Arsenal and Manchester United have joined Tottenham, Juventus and Milan in the race to get the Sassuolo star, who scored 17 goals in Serie A.

Both the Gunners and the Red Devils have made the ‘most significant enquiries’, going as far as ‘knocking on the door’ of the Emilian club.

Sassuolo would probably sell, but they would want a lot of money, and as the beginning of this article suggests, they’ll want around €50m.
