Burnley are expected to complete a deal for STVV defender Ameen Al-Dakhil imminently, with the youngster set to play his ‘last game’ for the Belgian club this evening.

That’s according to Sud Info, who say the Clarets ‘came back to the table’ for a player they targeted in the summer transfer window.

They explain that Burnley made a €3.5m bid in the summer, with Vincent Kompany calling the player to ‘convince him’ on the move. That was something he was able to do ‘without too much difficulty’.

However, a deal did not take place as STVV wanted €5m and Burnley were unwilling to pay such a figure at that point in time.

They have not ended their interest, though, and instead ‘came back to the table’ before the Belgian side’s clash with Standard this evening.

Kompany has ‘always been impressed’ by the ‘enormous potential’ of the 20-year-old who is likely to be at the game at the Meuse this evening before then making his move to Burnley.

How much the Clarets will pay for the centre-back isn’t mentioned but it will presumably be closer to the €5m that STVV were demanding in the summer.

Either way, they have returned to Belgium to get their man and he now appears to be playing his final game tonight before things are wrapped up.
