Eintracht Frankfurt have ‘signalled their interest’ in signing Wout Weghorst from Burnley, with the striker keen to leave Turf Moor following relegation to the Championship.

That’s according to Sky Sports Germany, who say the German side have ‘made an offer’ to the Dutch striker.

Weghorst arrived at Burnley in the January transfer window as a replacement for Chris Wood, having been linked with a move to the Premier League for several years.

He quickly became something of a cult hero among the Burnley faithful but was unable to reward that with the goals to keep them in the Premier League.

He’s been quick to make it clear he wants out after the Clarets were relegated, recently insisting that he will be leaving the club at some point.

The striker reportedly has a clause in his contract that means he can be signed on loan, and Europa League champions Eintracht Frankfurt are known to be keen.

Sky follow that up today and say the Bundesliga side have ‘signalled their interest’ in the striker and already ‘made an offer’ to the Burnley man.

The nature of this offer isn’t made clear, nor is whether they would be signing him permanently or on loan, just that a bid has been submitted to the player.

Should the move go through, it would see Weghorst reunite with manager Oliver Glasner, who he worked under at Wolfsburg.
