Brighton & Hove Albion are in talks to sign Nuno Tavares from Arsenal, according to reports from the player’s home country.

Outlet O Jogo writes that with Marc Cucurella of interest to Manchester City, the Seagulls went after a potential replacement, and see the Gunners’ 22-year-old as an option.

It’s said Brighton have ‘already showed interest’ in the player and are now ‘trying to agree’ a season-long loan with Arsenal.

O Jogo writes that with the Gunners signing Oleksandr Zinchenko, Tavares is set to have less space in the team, as they already had Kieran Tierney in the squad as well.

The outlet points out that Marseille have also been interested in the Portuguese player, but a move to Brighton is still ‘the most strong possibility on the table’ right now.

Tavares had indeed been linked to the Ligue 1 side by the French media earlier this month. However, it had been said he ‘doesn’t seem convinced’ about the move, so perhaps the Seagulls can offer him a more attractive destination, especially by keeping him in the Premier League.

There’s also been sporadic reports about interest from Serie A sides.
