Last weekend, Brighton & Hove Albion defender Igor Julio finally made his debut in the Premier League, starting in the 2-2 draw against Liverpool.

The centre-back had already played in the Europa League and the EFL Cup, and now it was time to taste a new competition.

Igor Julio is now quoted by Premier League Brasil about his debut. He claims things have been going well for him at Brighton, saying he’s happy with the decision to join the Seagulls this summer.

“I was very anxious and waiting to make my debut in the Premier League. I knew I had to be patient, that my moment would come… And thank God it did. It’s an incredible feeling, a dream come true,” said Igor.

“My adaptation period is going very well, I’m trying to pick up everything that will help me in the best possible way. I’m sure I made the best choice in coming to Brighton.”

The defender also claimed that Roberto De Zerbi’s style is something that should help his adaptation at the club.

“I think the style of play favours me a lot because I like to always have the ball, play with personality, without fear of making mistakes. I think that’s what Brighton is, a team that plays with courage and personality.”

Igor Julio was pretty young when leaving Brazil, as he moved from RB Bragantino to Austrian side Liefering back in 2016. Since then, he played for the likes of RB Salzburg, Wolfsberger, Austria Vienna and SPAL until arriving in Fiorentina, where he drew Brighton’s attention.

The Seagulls spent €17m to buy him from the Serie A side in the summer, with the Serie A side keeping 10% of the profit from a future transfer. He’s now tied to the English side until 2027, with an option for an extra year.
