Brighton & Hove Albion are back in the mix for Alan Velasco, two years after they failed in their attempts to sign him from Club Atlético Independiente.

The winger left Independiente for FC Dallas in 2022 and has established himself in Major League Soccer. After managing seven goals and five assists last year, he has two goals from seven games in 2023.

Foot Mercato now claim Brighton, Salernitana and Atalanta are ‘seduced’ by the 20-year-old, who can also operate as an attacking midfielder.

Velasco’s agent has ‘proposed’ him to several French teams and clubs across Europe. This is when it’s mentioned the Seagulls are ‘seduced’ by the player, without it being made clear whether the agent has also offered his client to Roberto De Zerbi’s side.

The Argentine has a contract until 2026. He intends to showcase his talent and abilities in MLS in order to aim for a move to a bigger club.

It’s claimed the South American attacker’s ‘greatest wish’ is to play in Europe, where he ‘dreams’ of making a move to England or Italy. A switch to the Bundesliga or the Ligue 1 wouldn’t displease him either.

After missing out on Velasco in 2021, Brighton could be presented with another opportunity to sign him.
