Sporting continue to look for a right-back to replace Pedro Porro, who moved to England back in January.

Reports from the winter had already claimed that the Lions had seen Brighton & Hove Albion’s Tariq Lamptey as a target for that position, and that rumour is now back.

Portuguese newspaper Record today features a front page with the targets Sporting have for the summer, and the 22-year-old is one of them.

It’s claimed that Lamptey was already considered in January and is now ‘well referenced in the shortlist’ for the next transfer window. In fact, he’s said to be the first of the three options they have.

Even though he’s valued by Transfermarkt at €15m, Record claim Sporting would have a chance to sign him on a loan with an option to buy, since that had already been discussed during contact in the winter.

Since Lamptey saw his national teammate Issahaku Fatawu get plenty of playing time at the Lions, it’s said that could convince him to push for the move.

The Brighton player has 26 appearances for the club this season, but most of them were as a late sub. He’s also struggling with a knee injury, and that is mentioned as a factor that would harm his chances at the Premier League side.
