Brighton and Hove Albion star Pascal Groß has revealed he still has the “dream” of returning to the Bundesliga, despite turning down the chance this summer.

The midfielder has been speaking to Kicker in Germany, relayed by Spox, ahead of the international break, as he’s again part of Julian Nagelsmann’s squad.

He’s continued to be a key player for Brighton under Roberto de Zerbi this season, with two goals and an assist in 10 games in the Premier League so far and another goal in his four appearances in the Europa League.

His current contract with the club runs until 2025, having signed a new deal with the Seagulls in April this year following months of speculation about his future.

Groß had been linked with a return to Germany and the Bundesliga, with several sides reported to be considering a move as he looked set to leave Brighton on a free transfer.

He eventually signed that two-year extension to his deal to remain in England and take his time with the Seagulls to eight years, should he see out his deal.

Whether that happens is up for debate, though, particularly as the 32-year-old has admitted he still dreams of a return to the Bundesliga.

“The life of an athlete is not always entirely predictable, but my goal was to return to the Bundesliga,” he said.

“But that has to make sense. There’s more to it than just accepting the first offer that comes along. Then I could have played in Germany again this year.”
