When Robin Koch left Leeds United for Eintracht Frankfurt on a loan deal last summer, one of his intentions was to get closer to the Germany national team.
The defender was supposed to be in the squad which will play Turkey and Austria in this international break, but a calf injury had him removed from Julian Nagelsmann’s list.
That’s why outlet Frankfurter Rundschau today features a story called ‘The pain of Robin Koch’, describing the tough moments the Leeds player has been going through.
The piece claims that the news about the national team ‘hurt him a lot’, as Nagelsmann had even informed Frankfurt he was about to make a return to the squad before the injury took place.
Koch could sidelined for the rest of the year, and the outlet writes the player was ‘inconsolable’ with the news. He’s presented as the man responsible for improving the Bundesliga side’s defence this season and had big expectations about his return.
The 27-year-old is loaned by Leeds to Frankfurt until the end of the season, when his contract at Elland Road comes to an end.
