Bought on October 4th by Brighton & Hove Albion for just under £5m, Michal Karbownik will not move to the Amex Stadium until next year.

Loaned straight back out to his current/former club Legia Warsaw, the 19-year-old was given an extra year in his home country to further develop before making the physical switch to play under Graham Potter.

The already thrice capped Poland international has been regular starter for the Ekstraklasa side this season, despite missing a few games due to Covid-19, but he will have to wait until 2021 before taking to a football field again.

That’s because Legia Warsaw decided to put him on a forced rest until the new year following some shin problems, deciding against overusing him, notably in the upcoming games against Wisla Krakow and Stal Mielec.

The club announced it on their official website, explaining the Brighton loanee is expected to return ‘during the preparatory period in January’.

And for those of you wondering if the Seagulls are aware of this, the answer is yes.

The statement made it clear ‘Legia also informed Brighton & Hove Albion about the situation’ with both medical staff ‘cooperating in this regard’.
