First linked with Everton and Tottenham, Yves Bissouma appears to be heading to Brighton & Hove Albion this summer, according to L’Equipe.

The French newspaper are reporting on Friday that the Lille midfielder is ‘very close’ to leaving the Ligue 1 side, with the clubs close to concluding negotiations for a €20m transfer.

Bissouma has already agreed terms with Chris Hughton’s side, meaning that once Brighton and the French team finalise talks, it should be smooth sailing.

While L’Equipe are confirming the deal, it should be pointed out that Foot Mercato were the first to report the Seagulls’ interest in the 21-year-old, claiming that talks with both Fulham and Brighton were ‘heading in the right direction’ last week.

Since then, the Cottagers have signed Jean-Michael Seri from OGC Nice, suggesting they already got their first choice when it comes to bolstering their midfield, leaving a clearer path for their competition.

Primarily a box-to-box midfielder, Bissouma had to deal with Marcelo Bielsa’s eccentric tactics for part of last season, meaning he ended played a variety of roles, such as filling in at right-back once Kevin Malcuit got injured.
