The Brazilian media today reports Flamengo’s interest in Chelsea winger Angelo.

According to Julio Miguel Neto, the Rio de Janeiro club made an approach for the youngster, who’s currently having a loan spell at Strasbourg.

Flamengo manager Tite is said to be chasing a winger and the 19-year-old Chelsea player is seen as a ‘market possibility’. They’re interested in a loan deal, with their board approving the signing.

Angelo isn’t a starter at Strasbourg, but does get regular playing time at the French club, and has three assists in 17 appearances there so far.

It remains to be seen whether Chelsea would accept letting him move back to Brazil, as European clubs usually prefer to keep their loanees closer.

Since Julio Miguel Neto is a Flamengo-dedicated journalist, we should also wait for more traditional Brazilian outlets to report the interest before buying this story.

Angelo was bought by Chelsea in a €15m deal from Santos last summer. He has a contract running until 2029, so there’s no worry in that regard.
