AFC Bournemouth are about to complete the signing of Fiorentina midfielder Gaetano Castrovilli, according to reports from the Italian media.

Sky Sport journalist Gianluca Di Marzio writes on Twitter that the clubs have reached an agreement for the 26-year-old’s move.

It’s said Bournemouth are initially paying €12m for the signing, with potential performance bonuses to be paid later.

Castrovilli is expected to fly to England for his medical and contract signing on Friday.

This seems to be the first time Bournemouth have been linked to the midfielder, so either the Cherries have been working very silently to get this signing done, or it’s a recent idea for which they made a quick effort.

Castrovilli joined Fiorentina’s academy years ago, and has been playing more regularly for their first team since 2019.

Last season, it took a while for him to get into the starting line-up as he spent months recovering from a knee operation. That’s the reason he only made 26 appearances.

Bournemouth had already signed Romain Faivre from Lyon to strengthen their midfield, and Castrovilli now arrives to reinforce that sector as well.
