AFC Bournemouth are in the race to sign Stade Brestois 29’s Lilian Brassier, according to L’Equipe.

The 24-year-old, who has been a regular for the Ligue 1 side since the 2021/22 season, made 30 league appearances last season.

Brassier’s ‘very successful’ season at Brest seems to have seen Bournemouth, Marseille and VfL Wolfsburg take notice.

These three clubs have already made attempts to try to win the battle for his signature. It’s claimed the Premier League side have offered the centre-back a higher salary than the ones proposed by both Marseille and the Bundesliga side.

Despite Bournemouth offering more money, the Frenchman favours a move to Marseille as he feels they are the ideal club for him to continue his development.

Marseille are set to appoint Roberto De Zerbi as their new manager, and the report states the player has been seduced after holding talks with the Italian.

According to L’Equipe, Marseille haven’t yet agreed a deal with Brest, and the transfer can be concluded for a fee of around €10m.

This would be affordable for Bournemouth, who have to convince Brassier to change his mind, to stand a chance to sign him this summer.
