Liverpool’s new signing Alexis Mac Allister has been having quite a busy time lately.

Following the confirmation of his transfer from Brighton & Hove Albion to the Reds, he then travelled to China, where he’s playing friendlies with the national team.

Ahead of the international games, Mac Allister had a word with ESPN’s SportsCenter, and had a lot to say about the transfer to Liverpool.

Knowing he was speaking to the Argentine media, he even made a specific comparison with one of the clubs he played for.

“I had to play twice at Anfield and any player you talk to tells you that it’s crazy how people encourage. Within England they’re the closest thing to the people of Boca. That also counts and is very important. That’s why I said that Liverpool are the Boca of England. I really want to start playing there,” Alexis Mac Allister told ESPN.

Mac Allister also talked about how much of a big move this is, and shows to be very proud of the path he’s taken.

“Arriving at one of the biggest clubs in the world and the biggest in England is a great joy and a dream. I want to make the most of this opportunity, as it grabs me at a very good moment in my career. I thank my teammates from Brighton and the national team, who are the most important and who helped me be where I am today.

“I’m looking forward to starting with my new teammates and my new coach to get to know each other and train in the best way to make it a good season. I feel that Liverpool was the right step, not only because of the present but because of the history it has and that passion that it transmits so much.”

The midfielder even commented on his choice for the number ten shirt, claiming it was him who picked it.

There were several numbers available, including 10 and 8, which are two numbers that I really like. I always liked 10 more, but I was also clear that 8 means a lot for Liverpool because it was had by a player like Steven Gerrard who is a club legend. It’s just a number, but we all know that in football that number is quite important and I’m happy to be able to wear it.”

He also revealed he had a conversation with Jurgen Klopp, and said that was important for him to confirm the move.

“I had the chance to talk to him. It was one of the most important things to make the decision so early within the market. I saw the desire to have myself and the desire to continue winning titles for the club, so for me it was very important. We talked about football, how he sees it and the desire for the club to continue growing and winning championships.”

Argentina are playing Australia and Indonesia in the coming days, and only then Mac Allister will be able to rest from a long season, which included even a World Cup title in the middle of it.
