Aston Villa will have an advantage over Ajax when the two sides meet for their second leg clash in the Europa Conference League, thanks to the club’s home fans.

That’s according to former Villain Anwar El Ghazi, who has praised the Villa Park faithful and labelled the atmosphere they make as ‘not normal’.

Aston Villa host Ajax on Thursday evening in the second leg of their Europa Conference League last 16 clash following the 0-0 draw between the two sides last week.

Unai Emery’s side will again be the favourites for the clash given the comparative seasons the two sides have been having, and the strength of their squad compared to the Dutch giants.

The Villans have been enjoying an impressive campaign and continue to push for the Champions League, even after the disappointing 4-0 loss to Tottenham over the weekend.

Their great campaign has been built on the back of a strong showing at home, with them currently the fourth best team at home in the Premier League with ten wins from 14 games so far.

And El Ghazi believes Villa Park will give Aston Villa the advantage again here, praising the fans and the atmosphere they create.

“With the audience behind it, in its own stadium, on that big field, Villa feels at home,” he told De Telegraaf.

“The fans always gave us something extra, because the atmosphere at Villa Park is not normal. The fans of Liverpool, Newcastle United and Aston Villa are the best atmosphere creators in England.”
