Among the many transfers completed on deadline day, there was the move of Wilfried Gnonto to Leeds United, with the Whites spending €4.5m to get him from FC Zurich.

Even though the youngster had been playing in Switzerland, he’s actually Italian and spent years with Inter Milan’s youth ranks until moving abroad.

So as the Italian media now speaks of his move to Leeds United, we see a bit of regret that the striker is going to the Premier League instead of returning to the Serie A.

Outlet Gazzetta Dello Sport features a piece where they even praise the Whites for finding the ‘perfect balance’ in negotiations with Zurich, as they managed to get the player for a good price.

It’s also claimed that Andrea Radrizzani has now ‘made the dream come true’ by bringing an ‘enormously talented’ Italian to Leeds.

The outlet even admits that the Premier League is the best place for his characteristics, but claims the ‘mystery remains’ why Italian clubs didn’t try to bring him back to his country.
