Despite Lazio’s strong interest in signing Callun Hudson-Odoi from Chelsea, they’ve had been having a major issue for that transfer, which was the lack of a non-EU spot in their squad.

It turns out that problem is now fixed, with Serie A including English players in the same bracket as those from the EU.

With that problem now sorted, newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport today features a fresh story about this chase, pointing out Lazio still have a minor issue before attempting that signing.

It’s claimed that the Serie A side ‘decided to stall’ their pursuit of Hudson-Odoi due to their doubts regarding the physical conditions of the Chelsea player.

It’s pointed out he played very little during his loan spell at Bayer Leverkusen, and that’s a concern about his form for the upcoming season.

The outlet makes it clear there’s a big wish from Maurizio Sarri and Hudson-Odoi to work together again, as they spent a season at Chelsea, with the manager believing he can ‘relaunch’ the player.

Despite the doubts, the report still claims the doubts ‘could soon disappear’ and the deal could then be closed ‘in a few hours’.

Lazio just need to be more sure they’re willing to bet on the 22-year-old, as Sarri breathes down their necks to get the player he wants.
