Having left Everton for Aston Villa, Lucas Digne looked like he was once again going to light up the left hand side of a defence.

While he did play somewhat regularly for the Villans, he hasn’t quite lived up to his €30m expectations, and that’s why there is talk of a move away this summer.

OGC Nice, according to Nice-Matin, are one of the clubs that could be a landing spot for the Aston Villa man, who himself wouldn’t be against the move.

The newspaper explain that the Ligue 1 side have made the signing of a new left-back one of their priorities this summer, and while they are looking at Raphaël Guerreiro, they also know there’s a lot of competition for the Portugal international.

That’s when Lucas Digne comes in, with it stated the player ‘fancies’ the idea of being in the south of France, but his wages ‘are an obstacle’.

If that is something the French club can overcome, then they would have no issues convincing him in moving, but it could also depend on what Unai Emery wants to do going forward.

Digne made 31 appearances in all competitions for Aston Villa last season, scoring two goals in the process.
