Earlier on Wednesday, we covered a story from France suggesting that Montpellier weren’t overly keen on signing Morgan Sanson from Aston Villa.

Despite the player being offered to them, the club, after some reflection, felt that his lack of game time and potential of getting injured was too risky at this stage, preferring to target someone who could contribute right away.

These problems, however, don’t seem to be at the forefront of Strasbourg’s mind, who appear to be heading in the right direction in order to get the Aston Villa man.

This comes courtesy of Alsa’Sports, who back up claims from Midi Libre with their own information, explaining the player ‘could soon drop off his bags’ at the Ligue 1 club.

The idea would be for him to join on loan, with some of the wages being taken on by Aston Villa, which was always going to be the case when it comes to a Premier League player heading to France in such circumstances.

We’ll have to wait and see how this develops, but despite one door closing for Sanson, it seems another has opened.
