Over the past few days, the Italian press has reported on the possibility of Samuel Iling-Junior returning to Aston Villa and his loan stint at Bologna being cut short.

That is due to the lack of game time, with the winger having played only five times in Serie A this season.

Now it seems as if Iling-Junior will continue his stint in Italy, with Corriere dello Sport today reporting that the 21-year-old will stay at Bologna till the end of the season. They have confidently ruled out the possibility of a return to Aston Villa in January.

The belief at the Birmingham club is that the winger will play even less at his parent side and would be better off playing more often at Bologna.

TuttoBolognaWeb have also stated that the ‘parties have decided’ as Bologna believe that their attack is now complete. Jesper Karlsson has left the club to join Lecce on loan and Vincenzo Italiano’s side feel that there will be no other outgoings this month.

Aston Villa will now hope that Iling-Junior plays more often in the rest of the season and takes his development further.
