After the news from RMC Sport that William Saliba was getting ever closer to a move to Arsenal after Saint-Etienne and the Gunners reached an agreement on a €30m price, the deal now appears to be done.

This is what Yahoo! Sport are claiming on early on Tuesday afternoon, explaining the young centre-back is going to sign a five year contract at the Emirates before returning to the Ligue 1 side to spend the next season there on loan.

RMC’s article from Monday explained all that needed to be sorted for the transfer to go through was how the bonuses would be paid, which could take a matter of hours or days.

Well, if Yahoo! Sport’s claims are correct, it was more the former than the latter, and everything went smoothly in the final stages of what have been extremely long negotiations between the two clubs.

Arsenal, whose transfer budget wasn’t exactly huge this summer, have decided to bank on the future rather than the present with this one, allowing the youngster to develop further before joining Unai Emery’s team.

And if Saliba builds on last season’s promise, it certainly looks like this could end up being a bargain in the long run.
