For the past few days, various reports from the Spanish media have brought Arsenal into the mix for Philippe Coutinho.

On December 21st, Sport reported the Gunners and Everton are ‘working’ on signing the 29-year-old. Three days later, the same newspaper explained the two Premier League sides are ‘best placed’ to land the former Liverpool star.

The Brazil international is currently the top earner at the Camp Nou and is not included in Xavi Hernández’s plans. Therefore, the La Liga side are working to get rid of him in the winter market and his exit will help them lower their wage bill.

Barca will have to find a new club for the attacking midfielder, who are ready to take care of either all or part of his wages, in January. This seems to have been solved, if a report from Fichajes.net is to be believed.

It’s claimed that ‘Arsenal want him’ and Mikel Arteta has ‘given a resounding yes when approving the arrival’ of the South American. The English club believe they can help the player recover his best version, which he achieved during his spell at Liverpool.

As per the report, Coutinho’s phase at Barcelona will be ‘finished once and for all’ and his next possible destination will be the Emirates.
