For over a month, multiple Italian outlets have reported about Arsenal’s interest in Merih Demiral.

According to Corriere Torino‘s latest report, the Juventus centre-back has admirers in the Premier League as the Gunners and their north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur are thinking of him for January.

The 21-year-old joined the Old Lady from Sassuolo in July and the newspaper claims Manchester United tried to sign him after he sealed a move to the Turin club. However, Juve said no to the request of the Red Devils.

Arsenal and Spurs are now chasing the Turkey international who has a €30m valuation in the winter market.

The defender has been restricted to only two appearances this season and one of them came in his side’s 2-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday. However, he’s a regular figure in Turkey’s defence.

Prior to the midweek Champions League clash, Demiral spoke to Corriere Torino, and didn’t rule out a move away from Juventus in the winter market.

“I concentrate on my work. My entourage and club take care of the market. If something happens, they will contact me,” he said.

Demiral’s comments should come as an encouragement for Arsenal and Tottenham ahead of the mid-season window.
