Ever since Ismaël Bennacer was able to leave Arsenal for Empoli in 2017 for €1m, he has improved quite considerably, to the point where he is one of the most important players at Milan these days.

That’s why the Serie A side are keen to keep him for as long as possible, and are intent on renewing his contract at San Siro.

However, it appears they could end up fighting with Arsenal when it comes to whether or not he continues in Italy or tries his luck elsewhere.

That’s according to Corriere dello Sport on Thursday, who had an article on the matter ahead of the two sides playing a friendly during the World Cup.

They state Arsenal are ‘now thinking about getting him back’ when talking about Bennacer, with Milan trying to convince him to stay with wages nearing €4m/year.

There’s also competition from the Premier League, as other big clubs ‘gravitate towards the player’, and that, mixed with the fact he recently became a client of Enzo Raiola, is why the talks about a new contract have ‘yet to get into full swing’.

As for Arsenal, they would certainly have an opportunity to get something done in the summer if he doesn’t put pen to paper on a new deal, as his current one ends in 2024, meaning he will only have one year left on it when the season ends.
